Many options are now available to improve
your smile. Using modern high strength ceramics and advanced
bonding techniques you can now have a beautiful smile.
Veneers can provide a beautiful smile and achieve dramatic
or subtle improvements in the appearance of your smile. They
are thin but hard, lifelike porcelain (glassy) layers permanently
bonded to the front of the teeth. |
| |
| Porcelain Veneers: |
- Improve colour of teeth
- Close spaces between teeth
- Stronger than bonded composite
- Enhance shape of teeth
- Simple, permanent procedures
|
- Maintain tooth structure
- Won't stain from coffee or tea
- Custom colour shading available
- Realign crooked teeth
|
|
| Veneers are a conservative option when teeth are not heavily
filled and often don’t require anaesthetic. |
|
| Crowns |
| Ideal for strengthening teeth
Regular fillings do not usually strengthen teeth. They simply
replace decayed parts of the teeth. Teeth weakened by cavities
can be strengthened and their appearance enhanced by crowns.
These are a more advanced and complex restoration constructed
on precision, custom models in a laboratory.
Crowns may also realign crooked teeth, close spaces, improve
discoloured and chipped teeth. |
|
These are high strength restorations that cover the entire outside
of the tooth with a lifelike ceramic or, when greater strength is
required, a precious metal alloy may be included inside the crown.
Porcelain Crowns:
- Restore broken or fractured teeth
- Strengthen root canal teeth
- Improve biting abilities
|
- Replace large unsightly fillings
- Make cosmetic improvements

| White Fillings |
| Today we only use tooth coloured fillings at Vincentia
Dental.
Many people have amalgam fillings that have progressively
blackened over time and caused staining of the teeth. Although
amalgam is a functional material it does have several disadvantages.
The most obvious problem is its unsightly appearance.
Many people now choose to have their fillings replaced to
achieve a natural appearance.
Old amalgam fillings are not bonded to the tooth. Amalgam
expands and contracts 3 times as much as tooth. It works very
well for a long time but when it fails you either have new
decay under your filling or the tooth breaks.
Modern cosmetic restorations are bonded to the tooth surface
so the joins are sealed.
Most cosmetic fillings are made from composite resin that
can be placed in a single visit and has an excellent natural
appearance.
For the greater strength needed for larger fillings or weakened
teeth an ideal material is dental ceramic. This type of restoration
can increase the strength of the tooth while providing a natural,
tooth coloured appearance that is almost indistinguishable
from your natural teeth.
This type of restoration requires two visits for completion.
The restoration is made in a laboratory on a precise model
of the tooth using advanced ceramic technology.
While the permanent restoration is being produced we place
a lifelike temporary restoration so that no one will notice
the difference. |
